What is the procedure for receiving early rehabilitation services for children with developmental disorders?

In ” Šeimos slėnis“ (Family Valley), secondary-level early rehabilitation services for developmental disorders of children are provided to children aged 0 to 7 years (for children up to 4 years in priority order).

In order to receive services, you must have a referral from a family doctor, pediatrician, neurologist or other specialist who has observed the relevant disorders, conditions and diseases of the baby/child (referral form No. 027 /a).

Depending on the severity of the developmental disorder (diagnosis), 20 or 40 service complexes are assigned per year. Ambulatory service complex consists of at least two diagnostic or treatment procedures.

Such services are free of charge, they are paid for by the National Health Insurance Fund from the Compulsory Health Insurance.

How to register a child in the Day Center?

Day social care services in “Šeimos slėnis” are provided to children with disabilities, whose place of residence is declared in the Vilnius City Municipality.

Regarding the provision of daily social care services, the child’s parents (guardian, carer) or other legal representatives of the child must apply according to the place of residence to the employees of the Social Work Department in the elderships (Socialinio darbo skyrius seniūnijose – Vilniaus miesto socialinių paslaugų centras (spcentras.lt)).

Services for children are provided by decision of the Social Services Department of the Vilnius City Municipality Administration.

Who can apply for respite services?

Short-term social care temporary respite services are a complex of timely and necessary services for children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 years, whose level of disability has been determined and whose place of residence is declared in the Vilnius City Municipality, their parents, family members, guardians, caregivers who are temporarily unable to care for the children who require constant care for valid reasons.

Short-term continuous care in “Šeimos slėnis” is provided up to 5 days a week, indefinitely, or a short-term service can be provided for up to 6 months a year.

For the provision of short-term social care services, the child’s parents (guardian, carer) or other legal representatives of the child must contact the Social Work Department employees in the elderships according to their place of residence (Socialinio darbo skyrius seniūnijose – Vilniaus miesto socialinių paslaugų centras (spcentras.lt)).

What is the procedure for receiving daily social care at home?

This service is intended for a service recipient with a disability and is complex assistance requiring constant specialist care during the day at his home. The recipient of services is a child under the age of 18, whose declared place of residence is in the territory of the Vilnius City Municipality and for whom a severe or moderate level of disability, a need for daily social care services at home, and a decision of the Vilnius City Municipality to provide these services have been determined in accordance with the law.

For the provision of day social care services, the child’s parents (guardian/caregiver) must contact the Social Work Department employees according to their place of residence (Socialinio darbo skyrius seniūnijose – Vilniaus miesto socialinių paslaugų centras (spcentras.lt)).

Does “Šeimos slėnis” have a diagnostic test for developmental assessment of children, or Diagnostic Inventory for Screening Children (DISC)??

The Diagnostic Assessment Test for Children (DISC) is administered to children in “Šeimos slėnis” receiving early rehabilitation services; if it’s necessary, also for children receiving daily social care services.

“Šeimos slėnis” (former Home for babies with developmental disabilities in the city of Vilnius) keeps the files of children who grew up in the institution since 1952. If a person searches for information about oneself, we allow access to the data.
